Political Survival Fund – Defending Your Ability to Do Business

The Political Survival Fund (PSF) consists of donated money from voluntary, unincorporated REALTOR® members and others who are interested in protecting the free enterprise system and the right to own and transfer real property in Colorado and the United States. These contributions also help support candidates for federal, state and local office who promote the goals of the REALTOR® organization. PSF is an autonomous organization unassociated with any political party; it is an affiliate committee with the Colorado Association of REALTORS® Political Action Committee (CORPAC), the Issues Mobilization Committee (IMC) and the Issues Political Action Committee (IPAC).

These funds are used to support or oppose issues at the national, state and local level that would have an affect on private property rights and the ability of REALTORS® to conduct their business.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should a REALTOR® contribute to PSF rather than supporting candidates or issues individually?

PSF enables the real estate industry to approach vital public policy matters through a well-organized, well-informed and united front. Through PSF, REALTORS® and others interested in protecting private property rights and the free enterprise system are able to multiply their individual political effectiveness to help elect candidates and determine issues on a national, state and local basis. Your contribution to PSF enables your industry to support candidates and issues in areas of the state where political participation by REALTORS® might otherwise not be possible. PSF members are encouraged, however, to remain active within the political party of their choice and to participate individually in campaigning for the candidate and issue of their choice.

Which political party does CORPAC support?

CORPAC is not affiliated with any political party. The program and platform of the individual candidates, board recommendations and ultimate action by the CORPAC Trustees determine who PSF supports - not the candidate’s political party.

How are issues positions determined for Issues Mobilization or IPAC support?

The Issues Mobilization Committee is comprised of 22 REALTORS® from around the state. Seven are chosen to serve at large and twelve represent the districts based on membership numbers. Issue positions are taken after hearing both the "pro" and "con" side of the argument. All members are invited to attend Issues Mobilization Committee meetings.

Where does your PSF dollar go?

A portion of CORPAC and Issues moneys are returned to local boards to fund local issues or candidates. After a Member Board reaches its state PSF goal, 100% of any moneys sent after that time are returned to assist local candidates and impact local issues.
