Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know which Board of REALTORS® I should join?

A: If you are an independent Broker you can choose any board that you want. If you are a Broker associate you can join any board that your Responsible Broker is a member of.

Q: What is the difference between primary and secondary membership?

A: Your Primary board is the board that you pay your State and National dues through. Any board that you join after your primary is your secondary board. You would have the same benefits of primary membership. You would only pay local dues at your secondary board(s).

A: Local Dues $186.00
    State Dues $110.00
    National Dues $80.00
    NAR Public Awareness Campaign $30.00
    Dues are prorated monthly for new members.

Q: What do I need to do to join the Board?

A: Fill out a new member application and send it in with the appropriate fees. If you need to take the new member class you will be notified by mail monthly of the upcoming classes. After you have completed the class you will be installed as a REALTOR® member of the Denver Board of REALTORS®.

Q: What are the benefits of membership at the Denver Board of REALTORS®?

A: The REALTOR® designation instantly increases your credibility with clients and customers. Membership also offers outstanding opportunities for professional development, networking and support.

Q: How do I know if I need to take the new member class?

A: If you have not taken a NAR Ethics or new member orientation within the past 4 years. You will need to complete the Ethics orientation class.

Q: How often is the new member class held?

A: The class is held six times a year. See Education Schedule for upcoming dates

Q: Do I receive Continuing Education Credit for the Ethics and Orientation Class?

A: Yes, you receive 6.5 hours of credit.

Q: What is the cost for the new member class?

A: The Ethics orientation is $40.00.

Q: How do I transfer from another Board?

A: If you are a member in good standing of another Association of REALTORS®, you need to fill out a Primary membership application. If you are member in good standing we waive the application fee and local dues. If you are a broker associate, your responsible broker needs to be a member of DBR before you can join.

Q: How do I get MLS access set up?

A: If you are a broker associate your responsible broker will send an MLS User form over to Metrolist. They will have you set up within 24 hrs. Your office will be billed monthly for your access. If you are the responsible broker you would need to fill out a Participation agreement. There is a $100.00 fee for REALTOR®. Metrolist will contact you within 24 hours with your new office I.D. and log-in information.

Q: When are your marketing sessions?

A: Marketing sessions are held every Tuesday from 8:00am-9:00am at 4300. E. Warren Ave. Denver, CO. (303) 756-0553 The Southeast Denver Marketing Session is held every Thursday, from 8:00am-9:00am at 1991 S. Oneida St. Contact Alanna Kimmel (303) 773-1900.

Q: Do you have any meetings for agents that are new to real estate?

A: We have Business Building Workshops, which allow new agents to learn pertinent information that will help them in the real estate industry and get answers to day to day activities that textbooks won’t teach you. Please see Education Calendar for next schedule course.

Q: What is affiliate membership?

A: Affiliate membership is for anyone who is involved in real estate, but is not a licensed real estate agent. i.e.: mortgage brokers, title companies. It allows you to network with REALTORS® through various marketing sessions and annual events. The Affiliates can also get involved the affiliate council. They meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month following the Marketing session.
